When you upload a video with a visible watermark, the platform's media ingestion system scans the frames and identifies the logo. The content is then automatically "down-ranked" or "de-prioritized." This means it will be shown to a significantly smaller initial test audience. It will be given less of a chance to gain traction on the Explore Page (Instagram) or Shorts Shelf (YouTube). You are, in effect, starting the race with a lead weight tied to your ankle. Your content may be brilliant, but the algorithm has been instructed to give it less oxygen.
