For many years, tags were a critical ranking factor. Today, their importance has been significantly reduced, with YouTube officially stating that the title, thumbnail, and description are far more important. However, they are not useless. You should still use 5-10 highly relevant tags. Your first few tags should be your most important keywords: your artist name, the song title, and the genre. Then, you can add broader, more descriptive tags (e.g., "indie pop," "acoustic performance," "music video behind the scenes"). Do not "keyword stuff" with dozens of irrelevant tags; this can actually confuse the algorithm.
