4. Why to Ignore Short-Term ROAS (For Customer Acquisition)

Part 10 • LTV:CAC as the North Star Metric

For customer acquisition campaigns, particularly when acquiring a new fan (e.g., getting an email subscriber or a first-time merch buyer), you should often ignore short-term ROAS. Your initial marketing spend might acquire that customer at a break-even or even a slight loss on the first transaction. However, if that customer then enters your fan funnel, is nurtured, and goes on to purchase multiple times over several years, their LTV will far exceed your initial CAC. Sacrificing short-term ROAS for long-term LTV is a strategic imperative for building a sustainable Creator Enterprise.
