6. The Critical Importance of SKU Mapping

Part 10 • Core Automated Workflow for POD Fulfillment (The Stack in Action)

For this automation to work seamlessly, SKU mapping is critical. The SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is a unique identifier for each product variant (e.g., "TSHIRT-S-BLK" for a small black T-shirt). When you publish products from Printify to Shopify, Printify automatically assigns SKUs to your product variants in Shopify. The iPaaS uses these matching SKUs to tell Printify exactly which product (including size and color) was ordered. Any mismatch here will break the automation, so ensure your SKUs are consistent across both platforms.
