Adding a small amount of bold, easy-to-read text to your thumbnail can dramatically increase its effectiveness. The text should be minimal—no more than 2-4 words—and should reinforce the core premise of the video. For our previous example, the thumbnail might be an image of the creator in a wedding dress looking shocked, with the simple text overlay: "I FAKED IT." This text, combined with the video title ("I Faked a Wedding for My Music Video"), creates an irresistible, story-driven package.
